ADHRB at the UN: Side Events on Bahrain and Saudi Arabia

Americans for Democracy & Human Rights in Bahrain (ADHRB) will be attending and participating in the 38th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. During the Council ADHRB will be holding two side events, one on Bahrain and one on Saudi Arabia. The Bahrain side event focuses on the upcoming parliamentary elections in Bahrain. The panel, on Tuesday 19 June from 4:00 – 5:30pm, will discuss the Bahraini government’s move to crush all political space and civil society engagement.

ADHRB’s Saudi Arabia side event focuses on Saudi Arabia’s rights violations regionally – in Yemen – and domestically – in Saudi Arabia. The panel will be on Thursday 21 June from 10:00 – 11:00 am. The panelists will discuss the humanitarian crisis in Yemen and some of the international advocacy surrounding the move to establish the Group of Eminent Experts. They will also discuss rights abuses in Saudi Arabia, ranging from executions to the recent arrests of women rights defenders and activists.
